SUMMER PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS GRADES 9-12

 

Current 9th-12th grade students can take courses through the University of Detroit Mercy.  See descriptions below.   Contact the University of Detroit Mercy to apply.

Ford - UDM/GT CATIA V6 Innovation Program
 

Grades 9 - 12 — July 13 - 24

This two week summer enrichment session introduces students to the latest design and collaborative software tools employed world-wide to design, test, and manufacture complex systems in a distributed environment. This is a unique program for students with a genuine interest in pursuing engineering or related fields. During the first week students will be instructed on the use of the DS V6 software. In the second week participants will collaborate in teams on designs focusing on renewable energy, robotics, automobiles, and other projects. Participants at University of Detroit Mercy will design collaboratively with a parallel camp at the Georgia Institute of Technology. 

STEPS

Girls, grades 9 - 11 — July 6 - 17

This two-week commuter camp introduces girls currently in the 9th through 11th grades to the exciting world of engineering, science, and robotics. STEPS participants learn from a group of instructors with extensive backgrounds in engineering, technology and science.  While building and programming robots, STEPS girls will gain an understanding of engineering, manufacturing techniques, robotic control systems, circuits and sensors. 

TRANSIT

Grades 9 - 12 — July 6 - 17

TRANSIT is a two-week summer commuter camp for high school students, currently in the 9th-12th grades, who want to learn about the world of transportation, a field of study within Civil Engineering. The TRANSIT camp is made up of labs and discussions led by University professors and high school science teachers, presentations by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), Ford Motor Company and the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) and activities from MDOT's TRAC program.
