Social Studies:
I. Historical Perspective
Content Standard I, 2: All students will understand narratives about major eras of American and world history by identifying the people involved, describing the setting, and sequencing the events. (Comprehending the Past)
3. Recount the lives and characters of a variety of individuals from the past representing their local community, the state of Michigan, and other parts of the United States.
V. Inquiry
Content Standard V, 1: All students will acquire information from books, maps, newspapers, data sets, and other sources; organize and present the information in maps, graphs, charts, and timelines; interpret the meaning and significance of information; and use a variety of electronic technologies to assist in accessing and managing information. 2. Organize data using concrete objects, pictures, tallies, tables, charts, diagrams, and graphs.
3. Present data using a variety of appropriate representations and explain the meaning of the data.

2. How many men, women, and children came to America
3. Supplies brought by the Pilgrims
Cue Set:
"The information we have been discussing about the Pilgrims can be represented easily using a graph. With a graph, you can look at data and be able to make interpretations easily."
Best Shot Instruction:
1. The Pilgrims came over for more than one reason (religion, adventure, and money).
2. More men than women came to America (single men, married couples, and children).
3. Pilgrims brought certain supplies to the New World (flour, water, Bible Box, and cradles).

1. The teacher makes observations during classroom discussion.

1. The student successfully completes a printed graph that matches the data.
2. Each graph includes a title, labels, maximum scale, and symbols.
3. The student has a clearly written interpretation of the data presented on the graph.
