OUR MISSION...
In partnership with
the community, the East Detroit Public Schools will provide all
its students with quality education programs in a safe and nuturing
environment so that our graduates are adequately prepared for
productive citizenship in a global society.

more efficient use of district facilities
meet
the challenges imposed by declining enrollment and reduction
in State funding
attempt
to maintain the "neighborhood elementary school concept"
continue
to offer educational programs that support the district's
mission
Decisions made to date regarding district
facilities:
August 2009: Officially close the Kantner Building. Children's
Services will be relocated to the Administration Building - 15115
Deerfield St. -- COMPLETED
July 2010:
Close the Kellwood Building. Alternative Education program will
be relocated to another facility -- yet to be determined.
July 2010:
Close Oakwood Middle School. Students will be relocated to Kelly
Middle School - 24701 Kelly Rd. Transportation will be provided.
Details regarding the transportation routes are in the development
stage.
September 2010:
6th graders will be housed at the elementary buildings.
September 2010:
7th and 8th graders will attend Kelly Middle School. Students
will be transported by school bus. Details regarding the bussing
plan will be shared later.
Summer 2011:
Administration Building will be closed. Between now and the Summer
of 2011, staff to be relocated to another facility(ies) -- yet
to be determined.
