Some of these sites are for homework help and others just for fun.  Why not check them all out and see which ones you like.

Please keep in mind that sites change from time to time and only sites listed, not any sites that might be linked to a site, have been visited and seem to be cool and interesting sites. Enjoy.

Weekly Reader - A great way to keep current on all issues. A very useful, fun, and easy site to use. Great for students, parents and teachers. http://www.weeklyreader.com/

KidsClick! - was created by a group of librarians to guide young users to valuable and age appropriate web sites. This site has a huge collection of sites that are very useful. http://kidsclick.org/

Language Arts

Social Studies

Michigan Sites

Kids Discover Michigan - This site is a great way to learn about Michigan and have fun at the same time. Michigan Secretary of State provides an electronic resource for children to discover Michigan's past, design a license plate, and learn how a bill becomes law. This is a must visit site for all 4th graders and very interesting for all ages. http://www.michigan.gov/mikids

Science Sites

The Why Files - Outstanding site from the National Science Foundation that helps explain current scientific news events. http://whyfiles.news.wisc.edu/index.html

Sports! Science at the Exploratorium - is a very cool site. It is like "The Way Things Work" for sports. It is for the older students but younger ones enjoy it also. http://www.exploratorium.edu/sports/

The View From Space - When it comes to understanding how our planet works, who better to talk to than NASA? After all, they're looking at the Earth from outer space.  NASA's Earth Science Enterprise Web site explores the weather and how it affects us. Get a bird's-eye view of our home turf. Using satellites and high-altitude airplanes, NASA continues to investigate big floods, droughts and freezing winters. The site is loaded with way-cool information, including the hole in the ozone layer, global warming and rising sea levels in our oceans.  Meet El Niño, the weather phenomenon that continues to baffle scientists, and find out how they are working to predict its next move. http://www.earth.nasa.gov/

The Mechanics of Fun - Popular Mechanics explores things most kids can only dream about, such as participating in emergency rescues, creating special effects for movies and crawling through a city's underground  system. Carrying on that tradition, Popular Mechanics for Kids' (PMK) WebZone contains a dazzling mix of science, adventure and clowning around. Sea World Animals - This site is about all the animals you see while visiting at Sea World and Busch Gardens. It is very useful, factual, easy to use and access. It is for kids of all ages. You can learn about whales, penguins, tigers, polar bears, sea turtles, manatees, and many, many more. You can also learn about careers in marine biology. Critters - This is a great place to get good information on all different kinds of animals. It covers just about every kind you can think of, prehistoric, extinct animals, endangered species, plus all our favorites. This is a very helpful site if you need to research animals. Defenders of Wildlife Kids' Planet - Click on Get the Facts to learn all about endangered animals. Click on Wild Games and then Who Am I? for an animal identification game. http://www.kidsplanet.org

Do the Math - Keep your math homework handy and get ready to crunch serious numbers! At WebMath, you'll find instant to those nasty math problems you're having trouble solving. Bring your calculator and a geometry set and get ready to dive into fractions, polynomials and integers. Interested in graphing a circle? How about solving a quadratic equation?  WebMath covers most of the problems that give you a headache in the classroom. But math is for the real world, too. The Web site teaches you how to calculate a tip at a restaurant, figure out the price of a sale item and convert a temperature between scales. The Iditarod - This site will give regular updates on the race, a background on the mushers, and an area where you can read Zuma's diary, Zuma is a sled dog. This site adds things each day as the race nears and takes place, so you will want to visit it often.http://www.iditarod.com/

How to use a YoYo - Now you can learn how to entertain with the yo-yo at “Ken's World”.  You will be shown how to play with a yo-yo like a pro. If you're not sure what kind of yo-yo you need, the site will help you decide with reviews on 20 different kinds. ALFY - ALFY is a web site designed so 3-9 year olds can safely and easily experience the world wide web. It is an educational center filled with interactive stories, games, crafts, activities, and math games. It also offers links to other safe "cool sites" to visit. It is worth a look at.
