Student Discipline |
Are you a good sport? Do you know how to work cooperatively in groups? Does the word "appropriate" have a meaning for you? If so, you must be a Mark Twain student!!!
These are the five rules followed here at Mark Twain Elementary:
1.) Talk and act kindly
toward others.
2.) Listen when someone else
is talking.
3.) Follow directions the
first time given.
4.) Take care of school property
and personal property.
5.) Keep hands, feet and
all objects to yourself.
| Working with parents... |
Keeping parents informed has always been a goal. Whether through weekly notes, assignment sheets, newsletters, phone calls or conferences, our parents are a vital part of the success that has been achieved this school year. We feel fortunate to work with such a supportive group of parents who want to be informed and who value their child's education and support us in that effort to continually improve.
SAFETY CALL-879-2338
This is a voice mail phone number to be used to report your Childs absence from school. This number can be accessed 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Just follow the directions and leave the necessary information.
Be sure to check in at the office!
In order to continue to ensure the safety of all our students, all volunteers and guest are required to sign in at the office. Visitors and volunteers are not to go directly to the classrooms, instead you must report to the office, sign in and receive an ID badge. For the safety of staff and students we must know who is in the building at all times. Further, we like to keep classroom disruptions at a minimum.
If
you are bringing in a lunch, homework, gym shoes, or a forgotten item, please
leave them in the office and the item will be delivered to your child's
classroom.
A time for school work is important.
Set aside ten minutes per grade per night...for example...kindergarten and first grade 10 minutes...second grade...20 minutes and so on. This set time allows students to complete assignments, work on projects and spend time "debriefing" you on the day's events.
A set bed time is important.
Students work hard during the day. If the school day is thought of as the child's "job" then setting a bed time is part of that schedule that is followed every day. Even if a student goes to bed to read to relax before falling asleep...that is a GREAT use of time!!!!
Communication is important.
Not only is it important between parents and children but also between parents and teachers. Sometimes there can be a mix-up in what happened both at home and at school. School personnel are always available to talk things over and provide information to parents. Scheduling a set time to communicate always allows both teacher and parent to have adequate time to discuss concerns. Just call us!! We don't know of your concerns unless you talk with us. (778-0137)
The staff and I ask you to join us in making this a successful year filled with many exciting and wonderful events.

Together we continue to make
that
Mark Twain Difference.
