Our History

West UticaWest Utica Elementary School opened in 1958 and was named for the area it serves. Currently, our school is the educational home for 591 students in kindergarten through sixth grade.

We are very proud of our long history of service to the community. Often, our students are the children of former West Utica students who have remained to live and work in the area.

Our students and staff represent a wide range of cultures, which affords all of us an opportunity to learn more about the world outside our school community. We are able to understand another point of view, take advantage of a new way of doing things and otherwise expand our learning - simply by being here at West Utica.

Although we have been a learning community for 52 years, our building is as new as the 21st Century. Over the years, West Utica's media center has been completely updated, offering our students a space where they can conduct research from a variety of resources ranging from books to the internet.

Our school has been upgraded to provide the best in technology, including wireless and distance learning options. Work has been completed on the construction of three additional classrooms dedicated for the instruction of science, art and music.

Best of all, we enjoy the support of our parents, who understand that a strong partnership between home and school enhances students' - their children's -- learning.

The chance to learn in a safe and nurturing environment is what makes West Utica a wonderful school. We're happy you're here!
