WriterÕs Workshop Mini-Lesson Plan
Lesson Focus: Story Sequence GLCE: W.PR.02.03
Literature used (if applicable):
Introduction: Yesterday as I was reading your personal narratives I noticed that you wrote great sentences, but they werenÕt necessarily in the correct order.
Teaching: What does it mean to put something in sequence? (Discussion) IÕm going to read you a short story called Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Why do you think it is important for the author to have this story in sequential order? How would the story change if the events were in a different order?
Active Involvement: After readingÉ Today IÕve given you one of your classmateÕs writing pieces on sentence strips. IÕm going to place them on the board in the wrong order. I want you to read it silently to yourself first. I will choose two of you to come up and put the sentence strips into the order that best makes sense.
Applying the Skill or Strategy: Today when you are writing I want you to make sure that your events are in an order that make sense.
