Lesson Focus: Adding Thought Shots   GLCE:W.PS.04.01

 

Literature Used:  James and the Giant Peach

 

Introduction:

Using Barry in the Box students will learn what a thought shot is, and how to recognize them

 

 Teaching:

Read a portion of James and the Giant Peach and look for thought shots. List the thought shots down, and discuss the different ways they can be written.

 

Active Involvement: 

Students add a thought shot into their personal narrative with support from a small group.

 

Applying the Skill or Strategy: 

In a revising group, students read their personal narrative and see if the group can help each other add another thought shot to their piece of writing.
